MB bump in the cards?

ThinkSecret (TS) claims that Apple will refresh its MacBook product line after the release of OS X.5 Leopard on Oct 26. Updated portables are expected to be available in the channel by the first half of Nov.

According to TS, this update will mirror last year's MacBook refresh when the company boosted processor speed, but didn't change the underlying architecture.

If Apple were to upgrade rather than bump the MacBook, it would seem likely that the Santa Rosa architecture currently used in the MacBook Pro would be their first choice.

Whatever the case, it seems unlikely that Apple will offer a MacBook faster than 2.2GHz as it might cannibalize MBP sales

Editor's note: With Apple's sales surging, it would seem the MacBook is doing just fine as is. However, if last is any guide, the mothership will push its advantage, especially given the release of Leopard...
