Early Reviews Give Plaudits to New MacBook Pro

Mobile Tech Review's first look at the latest MacBook Pro can be summarized in two words" "Buy it."

There hasn't been a lot of attention paid to the long-overdue 1920x1200 display option for the 17", but in our view, it's big news. "Worth it," says the review.

The baseline specification also impresses: 2GB RAM, 8x DL SuperDrive, and 7,200rpm 120GB or 160GB HD (250GB @ 4.200rpm is an option). Not to mention support for 4GB of memory and Santa Rosa Intel processors up to 2.4GHz with an 800MHz frontside bus. And don't forget the nVidia 8600m GT graphics card.

Some nice detail changes feature inside: a 'floating' hard drive, mounted on rubber bump stops; all-aluminium internals (does this mean magnesium frames are out for good? And why it's a little lighter than the previous-gen model?); and LED displays on the 15" models.

No, it's not cheap, but that's the point; as the reviewer writes, it's all about quality. And that's worth 3 Dells.
