Mac sales surging

Sub-notebook announcement said coming in Q4. Mac Pro, Cinema Display rumors also swirl...

The Street reports that Apple could sell as many as 2.35-million Macs this quarter. This figure is about 400,000 units more than analyst estimates for a bottom-line boost of $600 million for anticipated total of $5.94 billion for the company's final reporting of the fiscal year.

The report goes on to state—without meaningful attribution—that Apple plans announce a sub-notebook next quarter in time for the holidays. This ultra-thin device is expected to have a 10 inch-to-12 inch screen, sleek rounded edges and weigh less than 2 pounds.

The Street also claims that Apple's asking employees to cancel or delay time off in the Thanksgiving to Christmas timeframe.

Mac Pro, Cinema Display rumors

Also of note are rumors coming out of MacSlice that fresh Mac Pro iron and backlit Cinema Displays will be announced at Macworld San Francisco in January. Apple's top-of-the-line desktops could come to market armed with 2 X 3GHz quad-core processors for just $2,000.

Editor's note: The product (line) I'd love to see from Apple is an affordable / upgradeable mini-tower in the $600 to $1,200 price range.
