MobileMe users 'push' back

When Apple introduced MobileMe at the WWDC, the rest of us believed that Push updates would be instantaneous regardless of the device on which a user made a change. Update a gallery using your whatever and MobileMe, etc would instantaneously get pushed.

Unfortunately, that's only partly true. Happily the difference between what we expected and what we're getting is only 15 minutes or one click of the mouse.

MacRumors reports that updates from an iPhone, touch or Me.com are pushed to your Mac instantly. However, updates made on your Mac won't be pushed to MobileMe until the next scheduled automatic update (15 minutes) or the user can choose to click "Sync Now" in the MobileMe preference pane.

Apple has confirmed that this is expected behavior in a Knowledgebase article, which has generated some complaints in our MobileMe forums.

The end of the world? Clearly not. Still, it's more than a little irritating that we were "misled"...
