BusinessWeek reports that Apple is planning a major Apple TV as part of a broader digital video assault, though product specs (or an anticipated ship date) are given.

Also, whereas Insanely-Great and others have reported that Fox, Disney, Warner and Paramount were all firmly onboard, BusinessWeek claims that deals with the latter two are merely near to agreement and not done deals.

With Hollywood deals so dependent on personality, perhaps we shouldn't place too much hope on rentals arriving with four studios in tow. But, the future shape of the Apple TV is to me a much more tangible and interesting topic (geeks like machines).

What do you think Apple will include under the hood? More storage is a sure bet, but what about broader codec support?

The holy grail of wanted Apple TV features is, of course, PVR functionality, but that may be hoping for too much...
