iPhone selling well across the pond

Macworld UK reports that Apple may sell up to 500,000 iPhones in the euro in the holiday quarter.

"iPhone appears to be an early hit with European Smartphone consumers," said RBC Capital analyst Mike Abramsky, noting the device is outselling competing solutions from other makers. He expects the introduction of a 3G iPhone, which is now expected in late May or early June, will boost demand and sales in Europe.

The analyst expects Apple to sell four million units in Europe next year; forecasting total 2008 calendar year iPhone sales at 12.5-million units.

He base his projections on retail outlet visits and meetings with various industry wonks.
