Gizmodo, among a host of others, has confirmed what we all knew was coming--Apple will announce new iPods on Sept 5.

Mark your calendars ... Apple is planning a Special Event for the Wednesday following Labor Day weekend--that's September 5 at 10am Pacific [Ed--1pm EST]. You can bet we'll be there to pick up whatever drops, but judging from the picture, I'm gonna put my money on iPods. Maybe even fat nanos.
An image from the email invite Apple is circulating for the event riffs on the popular "cover flow" feature, which is a prominently marketed feature of the iPhone.
Various sources say to expect the introduction of up to four "new" models with flashed-based units expected to dominate.
