Ars: iPod event Sept 5

A report by Ars Technica claims that Apple will hold an iPod-specific media event on Sept 5. Yesterday, AppleInsider stated that the mothership will begin selling news iPods in the Sept to Oct timeframe, without offering specific date for their introduction.

The fifth is odd day for an event (a Wednesday instead of the typical Tuesday), but we are told that the reason for this is the long holiday weekend. Whatever you say, your Steveness. It's also possible that Apple will make announcements on the 5th while shipping later in the month... [Ars]

It's believed that four new, OS X-based iPods will be unveiled. Most if not all will be flash-memory-based models that will retain their click wheels.

Earlier this week, Apple legal sought and got removal of Photoshopped, fan-boy renderings said to be of Apple's upcoming iPod nano.
