Apple.com share rises 5%

A InformationWeek write up states that Apple.com was the fastest growing Top 10 web property, with 121-milion unique visitors for an increase of 5 percent over the company's April results. The company ranked No 10 in the fifth month.

Here's the shape of the Top 5

01 Google
02 Microsoft
03 Yahoo, 470 million
04 Time-Warner
05 Fox Media (MySpace)

Online users

Last month, users of the fairer platform accounted for 6.46 percent of web surfers as measured by Net Applications. This month, however, the web metrics company says that only 6 percent of online users were running either OS X PPC (3.52) or OS X Mactel (2.48).

This isn't the first time the Mac has seen its online share stall. In April of this year, Net Applications statistics showed the Mac stalled--a speed bump if you will.

Safari dips

Likewise, Apple's now multi-platform Safari also saw its online share dip, from 4.82 percent in June to 4.49 percent this month. Yet, the company's WebCore-based browser is still the third most-popular client as measured by Net Applications.

Here's the Top 5:

Internet Explorer 78.84 percent
Firefox 14.55
Safari 4.49
Opera 0.91
Netscape 0.78

Internet Explorer has posted its second-consecutive month of growth after many months of decline.

Editor's note: With fresh iMacs and iPods set to arrive within weeks, it's likely that the Mac's rise will once again resume...
