WalmartMP3 cuts prices

WalmartMP3 has announced (EarthTimes) that it has added more content, cut prices and extended compatibility to Mac and Linux in an effort to compete with iTunes and Amazon.

Here's a bullet point listing of what's new:

Top 25 songs with prices starting at 74¢ per track, standard pricing is 94¢ per track

Free MP3 "track of the week" for customers to discover more music from up-and-coming new artists and established performers

Free MP3 digital track of the customer's choice w/ every CD purchased in stores or online (begins mid-November)

More than 3 million MP3 tracks

More exclusive content, performances

Supports Mac OS, Linux and Windows operating systems; supports Firefox, Safari and IE

Apple's base price is 99¢ and Amazon's 89¢. Is this Walmart slashing prices and taking the hit to build market share or have the labels, etc given them special pricing a la the leverage they've got on CD and DVD pricing?
