What's the No 1 channel this week on YouTube? How about the No 13 most-subscribed channel this month, hmm? If you answered, "I don't give a 'corpulent rodent's posterior,'" we're both on the same page.

For the purposes of this write up on a slow news day, however, the correct and only answer is the OfficialApple channel.

So, why does Apple provide its Get a Mac ads in crisp, clear QuickTime, as well the highly pixelated YouTube format? Ditto that for iPod ads and tutorials?

Well, people will convert and post Apple's high-quality videos on YouTube regardless (I'm guilty), so if there's an "official" Apple channel, at least the content's been created / vetted by someone at Apple.

If it's worth doing poorly, it's worth doing poorly in house...

What's your take?

That is some of the worst typography and design I have ever seen on a web page. There is no way Apple created this page - the employee responsible would be lucky to escape with their life if Steve Jobs ever saw it.

The "Official Apple Channel" text on the right sidebar is so badly tracked it's painful to read. And I seriously doubt Apple would just flip product images sideways to fit a layout - they would create new ones custom made to fit the space.

Great idea but there's no way this is an Apple creation...

YouTube just looks like sh*t regardless of who's pushing the pixels.
