iPhone 2.1 mostly praised [u]


iPhone Atlas, which is a CNet vehicle, is reporting mostly glowing reviews of iPhone 2.1 from users, with application stability and 3G reception greatly improved.

"I've only been using it for about an hour or so but so far the improvments are VERY noticeable," said one user. "From actually being able to view my contacts in under 10 seconds after I enter the contact option to the "wowable" 5 bar 3g signal strength in my apartment."

Those reporting problems write about the usual litany of problems--app crashing, poor battery life, reception issues. However, none of the write ups I've seen mention jailbroken or unlocked iPhones--likely causative factors no one's willing to pwn up to.

As of this writing, reaction in Apple's iPhone support forums is running strongly to the positive. Given that people with a gripe are almost always more motivated to sound off, it would appear iPhone 2.1 has solved the great majority of users' problems.

In tangentially related news, the iTunes 8 / Vista BSOD problem (TUAW) has apparently been resolved with Apple releasing a new version (Computerworld) of their jukebox + device management software just for Windows users.
