Jobs: AppStore delivers sales


Wall Street Journal (vis Reuters) is reporting comments by Apple iCEO Steve Jobs on results to date by the company's iPhone AppStore.

"This thing's going to crest a half a billion, soon," Jobs told the journal adding that it may be a "$1 billion marketplace at some point in time."

Apple's el primo said that the AppStore had logged over 60-million downloads so far and that daily receipts have averaged about $1-million a day with $30-million in the month since launch.

If this sell rate holds up, the company will tally over $360-million in the virtual storefront's first year.

Further, in reference to the now infamous iPhone blacklist, Jobs confirmed that the company's handsets do indeed periodically "phone home" and "malicious" software could be disabled by company if necessary.
