NetShare coming back?
August 5th 2008
Nullriver (via Daring Fireball (gay for the iphone)), which saw its NetShare iPhone tethering application pulled, relisted and then pulled for real from the AppStore, has posted a note about the status of their zeitgeist-defining mobile wi-fi access point software.
We've finally gotten in contact with Apple. Looks like the lack of communication was due to automated e-mail systems being employed on both ends, which resulted in e-mails being lost in transit. We're working with Apple to get NetShare back up on the AppStore.
Hopefully, NetShare will be listed again soon on the AppStore--I think it's an application that could change how companies and users think about and sell / use the internet.
More disappeared
Meanwhile, iPodObserver reports that two other popular iPhone / touch apps have gone missing from the AppStore without notification or explanation from Apple.
• BoxOffice (movie / ticketing app)--See Digitallife's review
• Aurora Feint (game)--video demo
Although there has been much wringing and gnashing about the disappearance of these three apps, like the case of NetShare, miscommunication and poor coordination have likely played a major role in the problems that have arisen.
That is, a lot blogspace has been devoted to much ado about nothing, or at least I hope that's the case...
What's your take?
