iPhone nano by X'mas?

Daily Mail (UK) and 9 to 5 Mac are reporting a rumor that Apple will release an "iPhone nano" in time for the Christmas shopping season.

"A cut down version, with the candy bar shape of iPod nano music players, would be a huge hit as a Christmas gift," said an industry insider.

"This will be a big one," said another anonymous source.

The Daily Mail says the iPhone nano will cost £150 ($300) for pay-as-you-go customers.

Editor's note: Rumors of the iPhone nano have circulated since the shape and size of the original iPhone became known.

Is there any reason to believe this latest round rumors could come true, wishful thinking aside?
