Macromedia Moves Flash To X


Macromedia today announced Flash MX, its premiere multimedia web development tool.

Flash MX incorporates Mac OS X support and some 45 new features, Macromedia claims. Flash MX provides support for interactive video clips, among other revisions. Flash video does not require an external player (such as QuickTime or Real), and supports the Sorenson Spark codec.

Flash MX applications provide increased return on investment for companies, and amazing user experiences across everything from mobile phones, PDAs, interactive TV systems, game machines, Internet appliances, webpads, and in-room hotel entertainment systems."

Macromedia claims a customer base of more than 1 million users. The company says its will ship Flash MX and its player on March 15 and it will be available from the company's site. New licenses for both Mac and Wndows are $499, while upgrades are priced at $199.
