Airport Express avec le standard 802.11n

Always the laggard of the Airport line, Airport Express is the only member of the family that doesn't yet support IEEE 802.11n. In numbers that matter, that's 74 Mbit/s, which according to Apple Mathâ„¢ is up to five times faster than 19 Mbit/s.

That's none too shabby if all the other devices on your network are running at that speed. Otherwise, just like the original Airport and then Airport Extreme v1.0, the network will default to the slowest-speed device running thereupon--Ah, c'est l'airport.

Apple Store

Well, if you've got the change to chump for 802.11n and an Airport Express is really what you want, then perhaps you won't have to wait much longer--the Swiss Apple Store is listing an upgraded model with one-week availability priced at CHF 139.00, which trades roughly at parity with the dollar.

Editor's note: Apple's taken two Tuesdays in a row off. Is it time for the ritual to resume? We're certainly deserving refreshed iMacs and Mac minis...

What's your take?
