9 to 5 Mac, scourge of the unwashed and heathen alike, is reporting additional comments from Apple COO Tim Cook at a recent Goldman Sachs investment conference.

"We just received word on Monday that Apple surpassed Dell as the number one supplier of portables to US higher education for 2007," said Cook. "The ceiling for the Macs is nowhere in sight. Even if the market itself isn't growing, for us, switching Windows users is an enormous opportunity."

No, Mssr Cook didn't offer data or quote therefrom, but his word is good enough—dude poops in the same building as El Jobs and that ought to tell you something.

Editor's note: That's quite a statement—Windows users are there for the taking. No wonder Microsoft cut Vista prices, not that it will do them any good...
