Apple sees web traffic rise

Quoting Nielsen Online data, Irish Dev reports that Apple's fourth-quarter web traffic grew by 18 percent year-over-year, from a three-month average monthly unique audience of 39.6 million to 46.8 million.

Moreover, surfers spent more time when visiting Apple.com web properties--total minutes grew 14 percent year over year, from 8.8 billion in Q4 2006 to 10.0 billion in Q4 2007.

Perhaps more importantly, visitors spent significantly more money at the Apple Store. In fact, Nielsen figures show that receipts surged 90 percent year over year, from 207,000 purchases in Nov 2006 to 394,000 purchases in Nov 2007.

Apple Store

iTunes, Apple Store and .mac were the top three fastest growing Apple Web channels year over year in Q4 2007.

+-----------------+----------------+----------------+-------------+
| Apple Computer  |    Q4 2006     |    Q4 2007     |    Q4-Q4    |
| Channels         |   Average UA  |   Average UA  |   Percent   |
|                   |     (000)      |     (000)      |   Growth    |
+-----------------+----------------+----------------+-------------+
| iTunes           |     26,436     |     33,742     |     28%     |
| Apple Store     |     4,973       |     5,709       |     15%     |
| .mac             |     3,927       |     4,048       |     3%      |

These numbers, perhaps coincidently, mirror Apple's iPod results for last quarter with unit volume (visitors) showing a solid gain, but revenue per sale (visit) up significantly.

I suspect investors will see this web data as further proof that the bloom is starting to come off Apple...
