Intuit admits bungled fix

ComputerWorld reports that just two days after Intuit patched a QuickBooks problem that deletes files / data, the company acknowledged it has not completely fixed the flaw.

Users who apply the patch are still at risk if they run the accounting software while in range of a wireless hotspot, said Ian Vacin, product leader, Intuit Mac finance line, in a posting on a support forum.

The issue, which deletes desktop files after an automatic update, was discovered two weeks ago.

Intuit's fix in this case was a failed attempt to permanently disable automatic updating.

Editor's note: That's pretty sad. Intuit couldn't even cripple their software effectively to stop it from deleting user files...
