iPod touch unit volume delay

DigiTimes reports that a growing shortage of touch-screen panels has delayed volume shipments of the iPod touch
.

Following the launch of the iPod touch in September Apple originally planned to rapidly grow global shipments up to the year-end holidays. However, due to the shortage of touch screen panels, volume shipments have been pushed back to this month, added the sources.

Currently, the iPod touch is shown on the Apple Store with one-to-three day availability.

A somewhat odd follow-on effect of the delayed iPod touch volume shipments is reduced flash demand, which is dampening prices.

Editor's note: This is the first I've heard of iPod touch shipment delays. Then again, although not stated as such, it would seem DigiTimes is talking about international availability.

The reduced iPod touch orders alone are dampening worldwide flash prices? Apple must be planning to ship several million this quarter alone...
