Leopard Pre-Orders Double Tiger's

CRN reports that pre-orders of Apple's OS X 10.5 Leopard have more than doubled those for the last upgrade, OS X 10.4 Tiger.

The news comes not from the Apple Store, but from checks with Apple VARs. Most seem to attribute the boost in orders to the growth of the Mac market overall, itself fuelled by the switch to Intel processors.

Also of note is that the delay in completing Leopard - resources at Apple having been diverted to iPhone for its mid-year launch - has not affected sales of new Mac units. Tiger is still running hot and strong, even as the new OS X comes on stream and drives new interest in the platform.

Have you pre-ordered yet? Or will you wait until the initial transition is made and the bugs are ironed out? Are Leopard's new features worth the price of entry?
