Gore wins Peace Prize

Bloomberg reports that current Apple board member and former Vice President Al Gore has won the Nobel Peace Prize for raising awareness about climate change. He shares the prize with 2,500+ scientists of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

"I am deeply honored to receive the Nobel Peace Prize," Gore said in an e-mailed statement. "We face a true planetary emergency. The climate crisis is not a political issue, it is a moral and spiritual challenge to all of humanity."

Apple has posted a tribute to Mr Gore on its homepage, which reads:

Al has put his heart and soul, and much of his life during the past several years, into alerting and educating us all on the climate crisis. We are bursting with pride for Al and this historic recognition of his global contributions.

Mr Gore's book and movie, An Inconvenient Truth, were the hallmarks of his relentless campaign to raise awareness and push for change. Gore won an Oscar for the film which is one of the highest-grossing documentaries of all-time.
