Apple : You Frak Your iPhone, We Brick It, You Fix It

Apple has officially given notice that it will not repair iPhones that have been modified by unlocking and are now bricked by the recent iPhone update.

The New York Times' communication with Apple PR notes that Cupertino HQ advises users who have found their modded iPhones bricked by the firmware update should buy a new iPhone.

The Apple spokesperson noted users were warned on iTunes that unauthorized modifications to the iPhone was a violation of the user agreement.

Last week, IGM noted that some Apple Geniuses, at certain retail Stores, were fixing iPhones that had been bricked by the update. However, as soon as this information reached Cupertino, the order evidently went out to the Stores and Apple quickly said that the company's Stores would not repair modified iPhones.

Analysis: We'll see if the iPhone hacker team keep their promise of a new unlock within 7 days. At the moment, it's Apple 2, Hackers 1.
