Creative Profits Fall - Again

Singapore-based Creative Technology is still making paper-thin profits as its MP3 players continue to fail to gain traction in the market dominated by Apple's iPod, Playlist Magazine reports.

Profits in the latest quarter ending December 31 fell from $11.8 million to $8.2 million, although sales revenues increased marginally.

The company's Zen Vision:M is expected to be a big seller in 2006, going head-to-head with the iPod video. Like the iPod, the Zen does music, photos and videos, and comes with a 30GB hard drive, just like the base iPod video. It also plays DiVx, which the iPod doesn't. And it scores a good review from Anything But iPod. But that's kinda predictable.

The new Zen has a street price of around $310.
