Apple to Open 5 New German Stores

Apple is reportedly prepping five big store openings in Germany, The Unofficial Apple Weblog writes.

TUAW cites the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung newspaper, which writes that Apple will most likely open the stores in Berlin, Munich, Cologne, Hamburg and Frankfurt over the next 12 months. The news was gleaned from sources at MWSF.

Apple has been successful with its UK retail operation and Europe-wide iTMS, and the company is looking to revive its fortunes in Germany, once a major Mac market. According to Steve Jobs last week, around 20% of Apple's turnover was in retail in the latest quarter, or over $1 billion.
