MacExpo: Sonnet Intros 1G – 4G iPod Batteries


Long-time Mac upgrade manufacturer Sonnet has announced replacement batteries for 1G - 4G iPods at London's MacExpo, MacBidouille reports.

Prices range from $29.95 to $39.95, which is significantly less than Apple's own $99 battery replacement service. Of course, you need to open up the iPod yourself - not a totally trivial task - but Sonnet delivers detailed instructions with every replacement battery kit. Sonnet also offers an installation service for owners who don't want to take apart their iPods.

These aren't standard replacement batteries either; Sonnet claims an improvement of 78% in capacity over the regular model, or up to 20 hours playing time - at least on the 1G/2G iPods.

Battery capacities range from 600mAh for the iPod Mini to 2200mAh for the 1G/2G iPods. All necessary tools and a CD-ROM also come with the kit.
