Macworld Boston is dead

Macworld Expo (IDG) has announced that Macworld Boston 2006 has been cancelled. Since its return to Beantown two years the show has been a non event without Apple's participation.

"The marketplace and our own research have made it clear that the industry prefers one main industry event," said Mike Sponseller, spokesperson. "Based on the industry's input, we will be refocusing all of our resources to produce Macworld in San Francisco."

When the East Coast Macworld decamped to Boston from New York, Apple rather publicly abandoned the event, and the rest is now and forever history.

Editor's note: Perhaps the East Coast will sprout a large-scale, user-focused event akin to the SoCal MacFair. What's your take?
