iTunes 5 Fix Promised Next Week

Apple has acknowledged flaws in the recently-released iTunes 5, and is working on fixing the bugs, c|net reports.

"Apple is aware that a limited number of customers are experiencing issues with installing iTunes 5," Apple said in a statement cited by c|net. "We're working to resolve this and expect to have a software update early next week."

Across the web, a number of issues have been identified with iTunes 5, particularly in terms of problems with iTunes-iPod interoperability, such as the deletion of playlists, refusal to transfer iTMS music, and random crashes when attempting to install iTunes 5.

Apple customer service personnel have reportedly acknowledged the problem and have confirmed the company has identified bugs and is working on an update.

Analysis: Despite the problems, that doesn't mean you can't still download the existing, buggy version. If it's that serious and bad for PR, then Apple should have pulled iTunes 5 and replaced it with the earlier version. It's also not clear whether the buggy version is Mac or Windows (or both).
