ROKR arrives

The mothership, Motorola and Cingular Wireless have announced the availability of the world's first mobile phone with iTunes with space for up to 100 songs. iTunes software on the Motorola ROKR features easy to use menus, simple navigation and playback, and the ability to simply switch from phone to music and back again with the push of a dedicated music key. The new Motorola ROKR is available from tomorrow exclusively from Cingular:

$250 w/ two-year commitment
Mac, 'doze compatible
iTMS (FairPlay) compatible
Includes color screen
Includes stereo headphones, USB cable
Music auto-pause for incoming calls

"We've worked closely with Motorola to deliver the world's best music experience on a mobile phone," said His Steveness. "We're also thrilled to be working with Cingular, the largest wireless carrier in the US, to bring this pioneering phone to market."

As has been stated previously, ROKR is a family of products that will be rolled out over the course of the year.

Editor's note: Though we're getting four times the originally forecasted 25 songs, the iTunes phone is still something of an anti-climax. It's been talked to death.

Then again, people have underestimated the iPod, iPod mini and iPod shuffle. Is ROKR so simply cool it's not apparent to the naked eye?
