MacBidouille posts cracked OS x86 video

Previously, IGM has noted Apple's efforts to prevent the x86 version of OS X from booting on "unauthorized" hardware. Today, HardMac.com (Le MacBidouille in English) has posted a video of a PC notebook booting a cracked version of OS X for Intel, aka OS x86. Here's a quote from the relevant post:

The Apple Developer kit version of MacOSX x86 has indeed been fully cracked! An anonymous source has sent us a video showing MacOSX x86 booting natively on a PC notebook Mitac 8050D (Pentium-M 735/1.6GHz) ... As you can see the boot phase is rather fast and the error message at the end is simply due to an right/authorization error due to the kext allowing PS/2 support.

Download the hi-res version here and a lo-res iteration here.

Editor's note: I suspect that for those with the will and a small amount of skill OS x86 from today forward will run on whatever hardware they chose. Like FairPlay DRM, for which there are hacks available to those with the will to find and use them, OS x86 is a public good.

Let détente reign!
