Market share by the mouthful

Last week, IGM reported that NPD Research is predicting that Apple will post another stellar quarter. The difference this time around though is that the company's computer biz will deliver the growth--79 percent (at retail overall) and 94 percent (own-branded stores).

Echoing this sentiment is analyst Cody Willard at The Street:

[P]retty much every indicator and check that I can find confirms that the magnitude of the halo effect is quite profound, and that any impact that the processor transition is going to have won't affect that magnitude except on the extreme fringes. Indeed, I think Apple has cooked itself up a heckuva strong quarter yet again, and that it's going to sail past the Street's estimates and raise guidance going forward ... [I]t's crystal clear that Apple is taking all kinds of market share from everyone...

One wonders if Microsoft can feel the halo effect now? Then again, the Nile is a river in Egypt and honestly has never been one of Remond's fortes...

What's your take?
