Firefox: 25m downloads, 28 languages

SpreadFirefox.com has announced that Firefox has been downloaded over 25-million times in just 99 days.

Mitchell Baker, chair of the Mozilla Foundation, says of the feat, "Firefox is being rapidly adopted by the mainstream, with this audience embracing Firefox as a more user-friendly web browsing solution."

In celebration of this milestone, Mozilla is giving away 100 commemorative coins. A quarter of these collector's items will be given to the 25 most-active SpreadFirefox.com members who now number more than 70,000.

Further, 500,000 websites worldwide recommend and link to Firefox, which is available in 28 languages.

Editor's note: The world is definitely a better place because of the fine people of the Mozilla Foundation if for no other reason than their hard work has spurred Microsoft to get off its 60-billion pound ass and update Internet Explorer.
