ATI drops card prices
January 6th 2005
With ATI's introduction of the X800 for the fairer platform, comes news that the company is reducing prices on older cards. Here's a model-by-model listing of the new prices:
• Radeon 9000 Pro--$129 ($149)
• Radeon 9800 Pro--$249 ($349)
• Radeon 9800 Pro SE--$299 ($399)
Of these cards, the 9000 and 9800 Pro are for use in G4 P'Macs. The 9800 Pro SE requires a G5.
Additionally, IGM advertiser Other World Computing is also selling ATI 9600 cards (64MB in configurations designed for Quicksilver, MDD and G5 P'Macs. Prices start at $99.
Editor's note: Variety is good. Falling prices are very nice, too.
However, as noted yesterday (editor's note), NVIDIA will not have a both at MWSF. This is a bit odd give that company does offer cards at retail--$599 GeForce 6800, $499 GeForce 6600--for the Mac.
It would be good to see both players putting out for us at the show...
What's your take?
