Asustek lands iPod Flash order

Forbes reports that Asustek has secured an order from Apple to make a Flash-based music player. Although the report refers to the device as an "iPod mini," the actual name of this unannounced product is still the subject of speculation.

Further, the report states that Apple plans to drive penetration of its "iPod" with this new product in Asia where less-expensive, Flash-based mp3 players are more popular.

Other sources, including Apple Insider have said the upcoming iPod Flash has been in production for some time already with Apple building stocks of device ahead of its release. Lastly, this product is expected to be introduced and/or released at Macworld San Francisco on January 10.

Will the iPod Flash be introduced and launched at MWSF or will we have to wait? What's your take?
