M$ legal goes after MacSlash

MacSlash reports that Microsoft lawyers contacted their hosting company, Digital Forest, and demanded an "immediate take-down." In other words, Microsoft wanted the site shut down.

Why? Some eight months ago an anonymous poster included a purported Longhorn serial number in a comment.

However, as a records check indicated, the only access in recent months to the offending post was by a Microsoft bot. That is, eight months after-the-fact the world's richest company was on the spot to protect vapors.

Well, to make a long story short, Digital Forest told Microsoft to pound sand and Mac Slash removed the supposed serial number for the non-existent operating system.

And, yes, you can view the Google cache of the post here.

I wonder how much this pointless episode cost Microsoft? Brain-dead morons...

What's your take?
