MWSF: Microsoft Announces Mac Office 2004

Microsoft has announced Office 2004 for OS X. Introduced by Ros Ho, MacBU General Manager, she noted a number of 'Mac-first' features

New features include: a click-through notebook which supports both text and graphics; Quartz effects, such as dimmed formatting palettes; 'audio-note' voice recording in Word and improved Entourage integration.

Excel printing output is improved by producing better page layout formatting. Auto-formatting ensures graphics and spreadsheets stay together, rather than overflowing onto the next page.

Ho said that the MacBU had been working on Office 2004 for two years. Competitive upgrades will be offered.
