.Mac: Backup 2.0 final release
November 6th 2003
Apple in the guise of its .Mac pay-to-play online service has released Backup 2.0. Though its well integrated with .Mac and provides for simple one-click and/or drag-n-drop back ups to one's iDisk, users also have the option of backing up to a secondary hard disk (internal, external), as well as both CD and DVD writers.
Backup 2 requires X.2.6 or higher, including Panther.
-- On this app's .Mac page, the company offers a link to a very long list of X-compatible third-party storage solutions that one assumes are also Backup 2 compatible (no such direct reference is made by Apple).
Editor's note: The combination of Backup 2 and on-demand availability of iDisk via Panther is a powerful combination. If only we got more than a paltry 100MB for all of our stuff. Me thinks at least a 50MB "free" upgrade should be offered multi-year account holders. Hell, give me 10MB...
