Rumor: 970 Macs packed and ready to ship

MacBidouille reports that Apple is stockpiling new IBM 970-based PowerMacs protected by a seal imprinted with a message/warning not to open before June 23 (the first day of the WWDC).

Here's the Google translation of MacBidouille's latest insider "report:"

"Before arriving at the heart of the subject, remember that what follows is a rumor, without tangible proof. However, if we chose to publish it, it is that it has very good chances to be true. First Computers PPC 970 left the production lines and are even already packed on pallets. Pallets are covered with the opaque and sealed film. There are above stickers with following information: "tamper proof seal, confidential property inside, prosecution may result personal yew opened by unauthorized"

"They will start to be delivered to the wholesalers of confidence very soon with absolute order of not the défilmer before June 23. APPLE had already used this method during launching of the Cube and more recently of the iMac G4."

As always take this news with a large grain of salt, though it appears ever more certain that 970-based PowerMacs will be a part of near future.

Editor's note: I'll be getting a bonus at my day job at the beginning of July. If this rumor is true, the wife'll get a nice dinner out of that check and little else... I'm ready. How about you?
