Apple: First 'School night at the Apple Store' Jan 29

On Wednesday, Jan 29 from 6:30 to 7:30 pm, Apple will kick off its new School Night at the Apple Store initiative. As part of each School Night, schools have a unique opportunity to celebrate student achievement with parents, teachers and students.

Also, from Feb 4, schools can reserve their own School Night at an Apple retail location near them.

Apple Stores included in the Jan 29 kick off:
CambridgeSide (Cambridge, MA);
Lenox Square (Atlanta, GA);
Palo Alto (Palo Alto, CA);
Pasadena (Pasadena, CA);
SoHo (New York, NY);
Tysons Corner (McLean, VA); and
Woodfield (Schaumburg, IL).

At the first event, local teachers will discuss technology and education, as well as highlight student projects done on the Mac: (such as) an iMovie created for a science class, an online book report set to music using the new iLife software suite, or an iPhoto book created with digital photos from a class field trip.

Editor's note: Though Apple has offered educational discounts through its stores for some time, the company is expanding that to include a $50 credit given to participating schools for each Mac parents, students or teachers purchase. Building community ties is an intelligent approach and long overdue.
