Apple TV adds more channels with Disney, Weather Channel and Vevo

Brick by brick, Apple is turning it's set-top streaming device into a compelling conduit for TV programming. Tuesday the company flipped the switch on new content providers, which basically appear as apps on the menu.

New channels include Vevo music video service, The Weather Channel, and a couple of Disney properties. The Disney Channel and Disney XD should be compelling options for households with kids. All channels are reportedly free for on-demand content, and if you subscribe to cable with a participating provider it looks like you can get some live TV from Disney. Apparently too, The Weather Channel may flip the switch on live coverage for all users for coverage of a significant storm.
