HighPoint announced Mac OS X support for its RocketU 1144 CM host bus adapter. The card offers four USB 3.0 ports, each with an independent 5 Gb/sec. This means users can connect four devices for a total bandwidth of up to 20 Gb/sec. This can be an interesting solution for connecting multiples 6Gb/s SATA to a Mac Pro or perhaps a Hackintosh, for example. Once connected multiple drives can be configured into various RAID options. Or simply maximizing multiple USB 3.0 devices, such as with video capture boxes.
The PCIe card is compatible with OS X 10.6 and later, including the latest OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion. MSRP for the Rocket U 1144CM is $149.99 and is available now.
