Mac OS AirPort Utility gets iOS look, base stations add iCloud

Apple Monday released what appears to be a significant upgrade to its configuration utility for AirPort base stations. No new features are outlined by Apple, but the utility gets significant changes in the user interface. The interface has an iOS look. For example, in the picture here you can see graphical icons for base stations, and when an update is available it appears similar to a notification. When downloading there is a progress bar similar to an iOS app downloading and installing.

And along with the new utility, there is also an update for AirPort Extreme and Time Capsule base stations. Version 7.6.1 appears to mostly fix performance related issues and adds support for iCloud.

This update is for all 802.11n AirPort Express, 802.11n AirPort Extreme and Time Capsule models. It fixes an issue with wireless performance and provides support for remote access to an AirPort disk or a Time Capsule hard drive with an iCloud account.
