Apple event planned for October 20th

With a typically ambiguous invite, Apple has announced a special event next week. The event is to take place on Apple's Cupertino campus. The graphic simply says Back to the Mac and reveals a lion behind Apple's logo.

That's it.

The graphic suggest something related to Mac OS 10.7 since releases are codenamed after big cats. The current Mac OS X 10.6, for example, is dubbed Snow Leopard. Other than OS X, Apple's iLife is overdue for an update and perhaps also iWork. Both software suites have not seen a major upgrade since January 2009. We're also getting close to a typical laptop refresh and the MacBook Air in particular hasn't had an update since last summer.

So, mark your calendar for next Wednesday to see what happens.
