Google Docs update for iPad coming soon

Google announced Monday it is working on a Google Docs update for the iPad. The highlight of the changes appears to allow co-editing of documents from mobile devices. This could be a signficant upgrade with multiple people using iPads over the cloud. Such a feature could be particularly helpful for businesses deploying 3G-enabled iPads. Google will also extend this app to Android, presumably for upcoming Android tablets.

So far the best collaborative document solution we know of is Docs to Go using Dropbox. While the system accounts for multiple edits, the solution isn't very elegant. Basically multiple copies of a document are created leaving users to reconcile.

Not much else has been said, just that it appears the co-authoring function will be making to the iPad. The update is expected in the "next few weeks."
