Apple announces a number of iPad accessories

Along with the iPad itself, Apple today informally introduced a number of accessories for the device.

Probably the most interesting accessory is the VGA to Dock Connector Adapter. The adapter is a male 30-pin dock connector to female VGA. This will allow users to output iPad video to VGA for projector or monitor display. Apple appears to have opened its developer kit to allow apps to output to VGA. iWork Keynote is one of such apps. The adapter is expected to sell for $29.

The iPad case is a unique Apple offering -- a protective case for one of its products. Apple typically leaves this segment to third-party vendors and promote its products as-is. The iPad Case not only offers protection, but also dubs as a stand for desktop viewing. The case is expected to sell for $39.

From the name, the Camera Connection Kit might give hope for a camera for the iPad. Instead it is a 30-pin dock interface for importing photos from an SD Card or directly from a camera via USB.The kit is expected to sell for $29

The iPad Dock is a basic docking station for the iPad. The dock will charge or sync the device via USB, has a stereo audio jack, and connects with accessories such as the Camera Connection Kit. The dock is expected to sell for $29.

The iPad Keyboard Dock is an interesting looking device that acts as a dock/stand with a built-in full keyboard (minus number pad). The dock will charge and sync the iPad via USB adapter, includes a stereo audio port, and allow connection of accessories such as the Camera Connection Kit. The dock is expected to sell for $69.

The iPad USB Power Adapter is essentially an extension cord for wall charging. The device includes a six-foot cable and wall adapter with USB port. The cable provides 10W charging. The adapter is expected to sell for $29.
