Settlement reached over defective MacBook keyboards

A class action lawsuit has resulted in a $50 million settlement between Apple and represented customers. The agreement is still pending approval from the courts. $15 million of that may be going to lawyers.

The complaint covers MacBook, MacBook Air, and some MacBook Pro models sold between 2015 and 2019 in California, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, and Washington. The keyboards were notorious for issues with sticky and unresponsive keys.

Maximum possible payout $395 for customers who paid to replace multiple keyboards, $125 for one keyboard, and $50 for those who had keys replaced.
