Apple announces iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini

Apple today unveiled iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini with 5G technology, ushering in a new era for the world’s best smartphone. The newly designed iPhone 12 models feature expansive edge-to-edge Super Retina XDR displays for a brighter, more immersive viewing experience, and a new Ceramic Shield front cover, providing the biggest jump in durability ever on iPhone. The Apple-designed A14 Bionic, the fastest chip in a smartphone, powers every experience on iPhone 12, and coupled with an advanced dual-camera system, delivers meaningful new computational photography features and the highest quality video in a smartphone. iPhone 12 models also introduce MagSafe, offering high-powered wireless charging and an all-new ecosystem of accessories that easily attach to iPhone.

The new entry and mid phones look nearly identical except for their weight and size. Even the storage tiers are the same. The iPhone 12 mini brings the mini badging to the iPhone lineup for the first time. The key difference between the phones is the screen size of 6.1-inch for 5.4-inch. The spec that jumps out as noteworthy is the mini gets a slight pixel density buff of 476 ppi vs 460 on the rest of the iPhone 12 lineup except the Pro Max with 458 ppi.

Pricing is attractive for devices this year's tech regarding the A14 process, Apple's new durable Ceramic Shield display, and new MagSafe charging solution. The mini I think will be popular with people who like to prefer to carry smaller devices. The low price tag without compromising on specs should also gather attention.

The iPhone 12 starts at $799 and goes on sale on October 23 with pre-orders beginning October 16. The iPhone mini starts at $699 and goes on sale on November 13 with pre-orders starting November 6.
