Revamped Apple TV app now available


Apple today released a round of OS updates for its platforms. The new Apple TV app that, as previously announced, is now available with iOS 12.3 and tvOS 12.3. The update brings a new experience for those subscribing directly through content providers. The streamlined approach makes it easier to subscribe and manage content subscriptions.

With the free iOS 12.3 and tvOS 12.3 software update, customers around the world can now subscribe to Apple TV channels within the Apple TV app â€" paying for only the ones they want â€" and watch on demand directly in the app. In the US, Apple TV channels include popular services such as HBO, Starz, SHOWTIME, Smithsonian Channel, EPIX, Tastemade and new services like MTV Hits, with more to be added over time around the world.

The new features are supported for content in over 100 countries. In addition, Apple's brings Apple TV to Samsung smart TV. 2019 and select 2018 Samsung models are supported.

AirPlay 2 has also been updated and allows for streaming of content now to supported Samsung TV. Apple said support for VIZO, LG, and Sony TVs is expected later this year.

The new Apple TV is set to lay the foundation for Apple's ambitious streaming plans. Later this fall, Apple TV+ will be available with original programming.
