Report: Apple planning subscription services event for March

Buzzfeed News is reporting Apple will host an event on March 25th. The topic will be announcing new subscription services, specifically a news service. Apple is also widely expected to launch a new streaming service of original programming this year. While it would make sense to launch both services together, there hasn't been confirmed that a new streaming service will be a part of the event.

Sources described the event as subscription-services focused, but declined to say anything about Apple’s stand-alone video streaming service, which is also rumored to debut in 2019. Earlier this year, the Information reported that Apple had told studios and networks to be prepared for an April launch.

Apple has been pushing hard to expand its services business. Last month the company announced an aggressive bundling deal with Verizon for Apple Music. Additionally, at CES in January a number of major TV manufacturers announced support for Apple video streaming support.
